When business and thought leaders within the Nordic Web3 space like Magnus Jones make career moves, it certainly is worth a mention. Over the weekend, Jones posted on Linkedin that last week was his last at EY, after 9 years as the Nordic Blockchain & Innovation Lead at EY Tax & Law. Where is he going? We quote his Linkedin post: “Right now I am working on a project that for sure will be within the the area of Web3. More to be revealed later.. :).

Everybody who has followed the Web3, crypto, and blockchain space in the Nordics, whether from within or outside, has probably not missed the central role Magnus Jones has played. One reason is, of course, his core skills within the field. But there are probably two other very important reasons as well: The first reason is that Jones has represented a traditional part of the economy, from his position in one of "The Big Four," Ernst & Young. He has therefore been building bridges between the old and the new economy, even being a central advisor to several public authorities in Norway. The second reason is how openly Jones has had a central role in building communities in Norway, the Nordics, and Europe. No "newcomer" to the space has been too small or unimportant for Jones to take an interest in and help onboard, while simultaneously engaging with big corporations worldwide in his daily work.

An important voice

We in Kaupr have had the pleasure to interview Jones several times, both for articles and for videos. Jones was also the natural first speaker when we last September organized the Unleash by Kaupr event, and wanted to start the conference with a dive into: 'What are the building blocks in Web3?' Jones has also, for several years, been central in the planning and organizing of the Crypto Adoption Survey. This year, the survey was conducted by EY and K33 at a Nordic level and led up to The Crypto Adoption Week, a live event that Kaupr was happy to organize together with EY, K33 and Nordic Blockchain Association.

We are confident that both Jones and EY will continue to play an important role in how this industry develops in the Nordics, and wish you both a great future!

Here you can read the whole Linkedin post from from Magnus. To underline Jones's skills, we are also sharing an article and a video interview (embedded below) with Jones titled (in Norwegian): “Det du trenger å vite om MiCA og kryptoreguleringer akkurat nå”, or in English: "The things you need to know about MiCA and cryptocurrency regulations right now."
