Swedish authorities' perception of bitcoin and crypto is outdated and stigmatized. This is stated by CEO Christian Ander of GooBit/BTCX, who believes in both a trend shift in Sweden and business opportunities abroad.
In a video interview with Kaupr, Ander predicts that Swedish authorities will be forced to change their perception of Bitcoin and crypto due to the introduction of MiCA across Europe. Ander believes that the same will also happen in the Swedish banks, which today have a very conservative and restrictive stance towards crypto investments and crypto companies.
Goobit as a publicly traded holding company and BTCX as the company's brand and crypto trading platform have purged their profile as a Bitcoin trading platform. The retail-based trading platform thus offers only Bitcoin, in a simple and user-friendly way. However, private banking customers can trade most other types of cryptocurrencies through the company's OTC service.
In the interview, Ander also talks in general terms about the company's plans to grow internationally. Ander sees opportunities both in and outside Europe, as the company is clearly positioned in Bitcoin trading! 2.
In the conversation, we also talk about the history behind BTCX, which is Sweden's oldest crypto trading platform, about why Goobit bets so heavily on Bitcoin and what sets Bitcoin apart from other cryptocurrencies.
We also talk about the company's strategic initiatives in ESG (Environment, Social & Governance), the importance of getting women to invest in Bitcoin and the company's services vis-à-vis small businesses and entrepreneurs. We also discuss challenges the company has faced along the way, as well as explanations for Goobit's strong quarterly figures which was recently presented.
