Crypto women in the Nordic countries will contribute to more diversity in crypto

In connection with Women's Day on March 8, Sophia Adampour from Norway and the Nordic Blockchain Association (NBA) are behind each of their initiatives to contribute to more diversity in crypto. While Adampour invites you to join the “KryptoKvinner” community, it invites the Nordic blockchain organization to join the “Female Blocktech Circle” and a networking event on March 21.

Sophia Adampour starts from the fact that statistics from 2022 show that only 4% of Norwegian women own cryptocurrency, compared to 13% of all men in Norway.

“We need to actively counter this bias in the crypto market to ensure that the same disparity is not established in the stock market — before it's too late. That's why I'm helping to launch KryptoWomen,” Adampour writes in social media.

Differences in investment behavior

According to tax director Nina Schanke Funnemark, who on the occasion of Women's Day also focused on the difference between the sexes when it comes to investing and saving, only 30% of Norway's 818,000 shareholders are women. It is also big difference between the sexes in terms of investment behavior, not least on crypto, as shown by a survey at the University of Agder.

Will demystify cryptocurrency

Sophia Adampour further talks about the new initiative: “CryptoWomen is a project that is all about demystifying cryptocurrency and blockchain. We want more women to join and influence the exciting world of digital finance. I am convinced that when more women are involved, one experiences a more equitable and diverse economy for all.

Here you can find KryptoWomen online, where it is possible to declare their interest. The website also contains answers to 4 questions: Why women? What can you expect? Isn't that a big risk? Does it cost money to join? The answer to the last question is a clear no, where it also states: “It is our duty to offer accessible and inclusive training for all.”

Inclusion and Gender Diversity

March 21 finds the first networking event of “The Female BlockTech Circle” place in Copenhagen. The Nordic Blockchain Association is behind the event, together with Antler, Fireblocks and Mesh Community Matrikel 1.

“As the largest Blockchain association in the Nordic region, we aim high to inspire inclusion and become front-runners in supporting diversity and gender equality,” the association writes on the event page.

Incidentally, the association owns the framework for establishing a collective initiative, taking actions and responsibility to change the scene, and bringing more talents to light.
