Blockchain Sweden is now inviting an official launch of the industry association during an event in Stockholm, which has gathered 80 participants. The event also includes presentation of a recent report on the Swedish blockchain industry.
It was earlier this fall that 10 Swedish blockchain and Web3 companies joined forces to establish the industry association Blockchain Sweden.
This is the first trade association in the Nordic region to focus on industry framework conditions and public affairs, i.e. Public relations and government contact. According to Blockchain Sweden, the aim is to create better conditions for companies within the sector so that Sweden can position itself as a global player in the field. The focus of the association is policy and advocacy work towards legislators, government, media and business.
Among the companies behind Blockchain Sweden, we include Safello, which is Sweden's largest crypto exchange, crypto broker Goobit, and Chromaway, which is a blockchain pioneer in Sweden. The other members are Access Pass, Divly, Dwellir, FirstBlock, 4+Ventures, Metaspect and Trust Anchor Group.
At the inception of the organization, Solna's former municipal council chairman Pehr Granfalk has stepped in as general secretary. He has a solid background in political decision-making and public affairs both in Sweden and within the European Union. Co-founders are Johan Toll (now ChromaWay but with background from Nasdaq among others), Erik Vesterlund (Co-founder and COO of Goobit), Jonas Wallenius (central in communities and education) and Edward Leo (responsible for Research and Market Insights).
This is what some of the initiators say about the creation:
“The blockchain sector in Sweden needs to be heard and seen more, both towards decision-makers and other parts of the business community. We will become a voice and interlocutor for the industry,” said Emelie Morritz, CEO of Safello.
“Through Blockchain Sweden, we will talk about blockchain as a technology to give people trust, security, democratic influence and a counterbalance to the risks of global technology monopolies,” says Henrik Hjelte of ChromaWay, who develops services based on his own blockchain.
These are some of the agenda items at the launch event on Wednesday, November 13: What challenges does the industry really face, and what opportunities are there going forward? What measures can the industry itself and Sweden as a country take? In addition, Zimpler will share his unique experiences around these issues. Now we are putting together the direction for the development and future of the blockchain industry in Sweden!
Participants on stage in Stockholm are:
Henrik Hjelte, ChromaWay
Pehr Granfalk, General Secretary Blockchain Sweden
Emilie Moritz, Safello
Oliver Rosengren, Member of Parliament
Calle Sundin, Zimpler.
