When we started by opening up in Denmark it was more or less at the bottom of the capital market. We greatly downsized. Nothing secret or any shame related to it. It was absolutely right to do it because there would never have been a Firi now if we hadn't done it then.
But even with headwinds and doubts, we launched in Denmark with Karina Rothoff Brix in the lead as our Country Manager in the summer of 2022. Put that in perspective, the growth in Denmark is very reminiscent of how it went in the first 4 years in Norway. Rough market, uphill conditions, lack of understanding of what we are doing and lame articles in the media about taxes and electricity use...
I will never forget the feeling of reaching the first 10K customers in Norway, if anything it feels even better to do this in Denmark after everything we have gone through in recent years. How many Norwegian companies manage to grow in a market like this outside Norway's borders? Similar to the fact that we were destined to be finished in 2022, I have received a lot of comments that Denmark has flopped.
But have we? No, we obviously haven't. We have grown the number of (verified) customers by 64% in 2024 alone and the ball is rolling faster than ever. Kudos to Karina Rothoff Brix and Mark Fugl for never giving up and standing up to everything that comes our way on the other side of the Oslo Fjord!
