The art world is undergoing rapid change, with digital art becoming an increasingly important part of both private and public collections. Galleri Artely in Stockholm has always strived to be at the forefront of exploring new artistic expressions. Through its latest initiative, Artely x Artist, Galleri Artely deepens the collaboration with its artists to create digital works that build on their physical art.
The gallery's second art collection with digital works, The Merge, is now being launched and represents a unique union of physical and digital art that both challenges and inspires the viewer. The first work in this collection, Ethereal Forest, displayed to the public for the first time during the exhibition.
Ethereal Forest is a unique digital artwork, the first of its kind, created by our new department Artely Studio in close collaboration with the well-known artist Stefan Lindqvist. The work is based on Stefan's watercolour technique, which has been developed and transformed into digital form. By painting the first “frame” Stefan laid the foundation, while Artely created the remaining 21,600 individual images that together form a vibrant and dynamic work of art.
Through this work, the Gallery and the artist have created a unique union of traditional artistry and modern technology. Ethereal Forest is a clear example of how digital media can both deepen and renew artistic expression, offering the viewer an experience that is both visually captivating and artistically groundbreaking.
Here is a visual explanation on Instagram How the work is created.
Art can be experienced in a new way in an authentic artistic environment, where the physical meets the digital and creates an unforgettable visual journey. Each viewing session begins with an introduction to digital art, followed by a presentation of the digital work and exhibition of Stefan's original paintings, as well as question time and mingle.
To consider Ethereal Forest is to be slowly brought into the depths of the forest, where each moment reveals new dimensions of the landscape. By transforming the two-dimensional painting into a moving three-dimensional world, the subtle movement forward creates a sense of wandering through an infinite reality, where time seems to cease and the senses are filled with the stillness of the forest. The work offers a meditative experience that captivates and retains attention. Through its harmonious balance of stillness and movement, it deepens Ethereal Forest the viewer's experience of the artwork.
