Nikolai Nyrud Gobel: The tokenized economy is coming
Nikolai Gobel is a Product Manager for Digital Assets in DNB.
“The tokenized economy” is the title of this talk from Nikolai Nyrud Gobel (DNB) at the Unleash by Kaupr Conference on the 26th of September 2023. This was the first speech in Norway covering the tokenization topic, which has gained large traction and interest recently.
Experience from krypto and bank
At the time of the Conference Gobel was a Product Specialist in Digital Assets in DNB, but has later been promoted to be a Product Manager. Gobel is working with strategy, technology and risks related to digital assets. Gobel also has a background from the crypto industry. In 2017 he was one of the founders of the Norwegian crypto broker and custodian Kaupang Krypto, and worked in the company as the CEO until 2022. Gobel has a Master’s degree in engineering with specialization within empirical finance. He is a public speaker with extensive experience on topics related to blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and digital assets.
Democratic ownership & Internet of value
Gobels speech was a part of the Democratic ownership track on Unleash, where the other speakers were Torbjørn Bull Jenssen (Arcario / K33), Morten Søberg (Sparebank 1), Thuc Hoang (Firi) and Johanne Andresen (KPMG). Gobel also participate in a panel debate together with the other speakers in the Democratic ownership track.
This was the introduction to the track: The future of the internet will see an explosion of content and data. But who owns and controls it? Does Web3 offer democratization of ownership, or will the large platforms once again seize control? Is payment without intermediaries possible, with an easy on-ramp and off-ramp between fiat and digital money? Will tokens be the future assets, not only for digital possessions but also for real-world assets?
Unleash by Kaupr
Unleash is an event concept from the Norwegian media startup Kaupr. The first event, Unleash by Kaupr, was organised on the 26th of September 2023 as a part of Oslo Innovation Week 2023. The topic of the day was “Unleashing the future of internet: AI, Web3 and AR/VR converging”. 250 people had access to the conference in-person or virtually.
