Magnus Jones: How does the blockchain fit into the future of Internet?
Magnus Jones was Nordic Blockchain & Innovation Lead at EY Tax & Law when he held this speech at the Unleash Conference in 2023.
“Blocks in the Future of Internet” was the title of this talk from Magnus Jones at the Unleash by Kaupr Conference on the 26th of September 2023. In his speech Jones covered several emerging technologies like the blockchain, NFTs, AI and metaverse or AR/VR/XR.
At the time of the Conference Jones was the Nordic Blockchain & Innovation Lead at EY Tax & Law. In May 2024 Jones left EY to start on a new journey. In his 9 years in EY Jones worked closely with key stakeholders such as authorities, banks and academia. He assisted clients with everything from regulatory challenges to technical implementations. He is very experienced in NFTs, DeFi and DAOs and has worked with some of the world’s largest brands.
Emerging technologies: The fundamentals
Jones’ speech was a part of the Emerging Technology session on Unleash, where the other speakers were Jarl Erik Cedergren (Sopra Steria), Jon Ølnes (Signicat), Henning Rokling (Knowit) and Sophia Adampour (Verse Gallery). Jones also participated in a panel debate together with the other speakers in the Emerging Technology Track.
This was the introduction to the session: Each of our speakers will lead us through different building blocks in the future of internet, from our digital identities when we are interacting with the internet via the infrastructure built on the blockchain and tokens, the conversational interfaces made possible via Generative AI and to the immersive experiences we can have in the metaverse, through Augmented and Virtual Realities. In the end of the section we will bring the speakers together in a panel discussion to ask: How do these building blocks fit into each other in the future internet?
Unleash by Kaupr
Unleash is an event concept from the Norwegian media startup Kaupr. The first event, Unleash by Kaupr, was organised on the 26th of September 2023 as a part of Oslo Innovation Week 2023. The topic of the day was “Unleashing the future of internet: AI, Web3 and AR/VR converging”. 250 people had access to the conference in-person or virtually.
